Costume Exploration and Analysis Assignment

Project Objective: The mission of the Costume Exploration and Analysis Assignment is to first: engage visitors in a comprehensive discussion about historical costume, and secondly: to compare and contrast costume from two different textile and clothing exhibits, "One Thread, Many Hands" presented in the Mary Alice Gallery in Morrill Hall at Iowa State University and "blog. mode: addressing fashion" an exhibit presented online at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

The Assignment: Explore the websites http://www.flickr.com/photos/30504447@N05/ and http://blog.metmuseum.org/blogmode/category/introduction/ and chose one costume from each exhibit ( a total of two) and compare and contrast the line, silhouette, texture, and drape of each chosen item. Also think about the time period of each chosen piece and share why particular silhouettes are favored during that era. Submit your project in a blog discussing the similarities and differences of the two garments at http://costumesoiree.blogspot.com/
